Toronto Maple Leafs superstar Auston Matthews celebrated his 60th goal against the Buffalo Sabres, marking a historic achievement in his career. However, his moment of glory was overshadowed by a heated altercation between the Maple Leafs and Sabres that led to several players including Matthews himself being ejected from the game.

Matthews achieved this milestone by scoring against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night, making him just the 9th player in NHL history to reach the 60-goal mark in multiple seasons. Despite facing some close calls earlier in the game, Matthews capitalized on a rebound off teammate Conor Timmins' shot, quickly regaining possession of the puck and slotting it into the net for his 60th goal.

While Matthews basked in the joy of his accomplishment, the game took a tumultuous turn in the final seconds when tensions escalated between the Maple Leafs and Sabres. It started with a hit from Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin on Maple Leafs defenseman TJ Brodie, sparking a flurry of aggression between the players.

Referees Gord Dwyer and TJ Luxmore intervened swiftly to prevent the situation from escalating further. Despite their efforts, players continued to engage in altercations, prompting the referees to issue 10-minute misconducts to all players on the ice, effectively ejecting them from the game.

The referees' decisive action sent a clear message that they would not tolerate any further misconduct, bringing an end to the game amid heightened emotions on both sides.
