The National Hockey League has demonstrated a commitment to player safety by implementing measures such as concussion spotters to prevent players from playing through potential injuries. Concussions have the potential to not only end careers, but also seriously compromise overall health. While players are eager to take the ice, health must be the top priority.

Regrettably, the NHL is currently grappling with another player who has suffered a concussion. This player, who is known for his exciting performances, sustained a concussion on February 7th after being hit by Jeff Carter.
Although he was expected to miss at least two weeks, he was cleared to play after only 11 days, and subsequently suffered a hit from Alexei Toropchenko of the St. Louis Blues which forced him to exit the game.
It has now been confirmed that this player, Cale Makar, has sustained his second concussion within an 11-day period.
