All hell breaks loose after Nick Jensen gets knocked out unconscious

Today a big hit from Tampa Bay Lightning forward Michael Eyssimont has sent Washington Capitals defenseman Nick Jensen off the ice on a stretcher. The scary scene developed early in the game causing concern for the veteran defenseman.

Minutes into a crucial game for the Washington Capitals defenseman Nick Jensen found himself in an awful situation. After being crushed into the boards by forward Michael Eyssimont medical personnel was rushed out to attend to Nick Jensen. After assessing Nick Jensen's condition a stretcher was brought out on the ice.

Prayers up to Nick Jensen, who had to be taken off the ice on a stretcher after a tough hit from Eyssimont.




Despite a huge hit that ended in a major injury Michael Eyssimont was not given a penalty or ejected from the game.

Washington's Nick Jensen had to leave the game on a stretcher after receiving a hit from Tampa Bay's Michael Eyssimont.

There was no penalty on the play.


Not long after Nick Jensen was taken off of the ice the Washington Capitals were able to give a major update on his condition. According to the post on X from the team Nick Jensen is awake, alert, and has use of his extremities.

#Caps defenseman Nick Jensen sustained an injury after a collision with Tampa Bay's player Michael Eyssimont in the first period. Jensen is conscious, alert and has the use of all his extremities. He will continue to be monitored by the team's medical personnel.


These are all incredibly positive signs considering how terrifying the situation looked in the moment. As Nick Jensen starts his recovery process we wish him the best and hope to see him back on the ice soon.
