Currently, the opening round series of the Colorado Avalanche versus the Seattle Kraken is tied at two games each.

However, the Avalanche's chances of taking the lead in the series may be jeopardized as Cale Makar will be absent due to a hearing regarding his hit on Jared McCann.

In the play, McCann was forcefully pushed into the boards despite being distant from the puck.

Makar was first given a major penalty, but it was later reduced to a minor. Nevertheless, the league decided that the hit was severe enough to require a suspension.

The play was reviewed by the Department of Player Safety and they have decided it was worthy of a suspension:

Colorado's Cale Makar has been suspended for one playoff game for Interference against Seattle's Jared McCann.
