Jared Picklyk, a goaltender for the Humboldt Broncos, has been suspended indefinitely by the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) following his arrest early on Saturday morning.
Picklyk was allegedly driving a pickup truck that crashed into a home in Humboldt around 1:25 AM, shortly after his team had eliminated the Nipawin Hawks from the SJHL playoffs.
He was taken into custody and charged with refusal to comply with breath screening. The SJHL is investigating the incident, and league commissioner Kyle McIntyre confirmed this to CTV News.
"The league is presently investigating these allegations and will take appropriate action once our investigation is complete."
Picklyk previously played for the Lethbridge Hurricanes and Tri-City Americans in the Western Hockey League before joining the Humboldt Broncos, where he helped the team finish second in the SJHL regular season. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 8th, and there were no injuries reported in the crash.
