After playing 92 NHL games, Laurent Dauphin has taken a brutal turn in his European game. It doesn't look like his newfound violence will be a bonus.
Dauphin Delivers a Harsh Blow: Probable Severe Suspension
Once a player for both Montreal and Arizona in the NHL, Laurent Dauphin's stint was not particularly standout. Chosen in the 2013 2nd round, he mainly played in the AHL while in North America. However, with no NHL offers this season, he chose to join Ambri-Piotta in the NL.
Starting the season powerfully with 11 points in just 12 matches, an event last evening could force him to take a break.
During an intense moment in the match between Ambri-Piotta and Rapperswil-Jona, Dauphin took a leap and landed a direct hit on the head of Tyler Moy from the opposition:
L'horreur du jour est signée Laurent Dauphin.

Dauphin's decision to leap from the ground, seemingly with an intention to harm, may well lead him to face multiple bench games. Given the NL's reputation for harsh penalties, this might even stretch to a 10-game suspension.
Having been chosen in the sixth round by the Nashville Predators, Moy has dedicated several years to the NL. It is hoped that he remains unscathed from this unpleasant event.
Reddit discussions highlighted the six questionable aspects of Dauphin's hit:
- Wow, there are like 5 suspendable things in a single hit.
- Skates leave the ice✅
- hits the neck and head ✅
- comes with tons of speed ✅
- sees only numbers ✅
- and takes him into the boards ✅
- Throws a knee with the initial blow too!
