When Eric Lindros was selected in the draft, he was touted as the NHL's next big superstar. Upon his debut, he brought an unprecedented blend of size and skill to the league, making him a dominant player. Unfortunately, the team that drafted him did not benefit from his dominance.

During his draft season, Lindros had informed the Quebec Nordiques that he would not play for them if they chose him with the first overall pick. However, they chose him regardless, leading to a standoff. After a year, the Nordiques grew tired of the holdout and opted to trade him. Looking back now, the five deals they had on the table for him look absolutely absurd today.
