Today, the San Jose Sharks made the decision to terminate the contract of Leon Gawanke.
Leon Gawanke Goes To Waivers For The Purpose Of Contract Termination
Leon Gawanke has been placed on unconditional waivers by the #SJSharks and will have his contract terminated.
Gawanke, who is just 24 years old, has been a top producer among defensemen in the AHL for multiple seasons. Given his young age and promising talent, it's surprising that the Sharks would let go of such a promising prospect.
If Gawanke successfully clears waivers, it wouldn't be unexpected for him to secure another NHL contract before the trade deadline.
