Further details emerged on Friday morning, revealing that Dumais was suspended following a police charge for driving under the influence earlier in the month.

According to Halifax Regional Police spokesperson Const. Paul DesRochers, the incident occurred on March 1 when officers stopped Dumais' vehicle for a traffic violation in Halifax. Signs of impairment led to his arrest.

Sources disclosed to TSLH that Dumais was the sole passenger in the car and his blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit prescribed by the Canadian Criminal Code. However, there were no drugs involved, no road accidents, and no other passengers in the vehicle.

Dumais, a third-round pick for the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, earned MVP honors in the 2023 QMJHL season with 140 points, leading the league in scoring.
