In the final moments of the Battle of Ontario, Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly was ejected for a cross check to Ottawa Senators forward Ridly Greig's head. Despite Greig's provocation, Rielly's action could lead to further discipline from the NHL due to its severity and timing.


Insider Johnston Provides Update On Rielly's Potential Hearing



According to insider Chris Johnston, it sounds as though the Department of Player Safety is still processing the situation.


It sounds like
@NHLPlayerSafety
is still in the information-gathering stage after last night's Morgan Rielly cross-check on Ridly Greig, but it wouldn't be surprising to see Rielly get a hearing.

The DoPS have some time with the #leafs not due to play again until Tuesday.


The NHL office is deliberating over whether Morgan Rielly will undergo an in-person hearing or a phone hearing. An in-person hearing suggests the possibility of a suspension exceeding five games.
