Wayne Simmonds, a seasoned NHL forward, will be signing a one-day contract with the Philadelphia Flyers to officially retire with the team, as announced by the Flyers on Monday.
Expressing his sentiments, Simmonds stated, "It's difficult to put into words how I feel on a day like this, but one of my earliest reflections is on my time in Philadelphia and playing for the Flyers." He added, "Stepping onto the ice wearing a Flyers jersey is a feeling like no other, and it's something I deeply cherish. The rich history of this franchise and the expectations of being a Flyer are something I hold in the highest esteem."
Originally drafted 61st overall by the Los Angeles Kings in 2007, Simmonds boasts a career total of 263 goals and 526 points in 1,037 games, spread across stints with the Kings, Flyers, Nashville Predators, New Jersey Devils, Buffalo Sabres, and Toronto Maple Leafs.
