NHL insider and Sportsnet reporter Elliotte Friedman mentioned that Phil Kessel might sign a professional tryout (PTO) with the Columbus Blue Jackets to keep his career going.

In the most recent episode of 32 Thoughts, Friedman revealed Kessel being a potential target for the Columbus Blue Jackets.
"Honestly, Kyle, I wondered if there was any chance that Phil Kessel may end up there (Blue Jackets). Just simply because, and I think this is a serious season for Columbus. They were disappointed last year. They want to show some improvement, but I kind of wonder about a guy like Kessel simply because he's got the reputation of being someone who really lightens the mood and just creates a lot of enjoyment when he's around."
Blue Jackets GM Don Waddell recently told The Athletic's Aaron Portzline that he wanted to strengthen the team's forward group. After signing former Bruins forward James van Riemsdyk to a one-year, $900,000 deal, Waddell might be looking to adding another former Bruin by signing Kessel.
Stay tuned for more.
