As teams finalize their roster ahead of training camp, Matt Martin has inked a new professional tryout offer (PTO) with the New York Islanders.
New York Islanders president and general manager Lou Lamoriello announced on Friday that veteran forward Matt Martin will join the team's training camp on a professional tryout.
Martin, 35, from Windsor, Ontario, is nearing the 1,000-game mark, having played 955 games over his 15-year NHL career.
Originally drafted by the Islanders in the fifth round (148th overall) in 2008, Martin signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2016, where Lamoriello was the GM at the time. He returned to the Islanders in a 2018 trade, shortly after Lamoriello was hired by the team.
Throughout his career, Martin has recorded 176 points (81 goals, 95 assists) and ranks second all-time in hits with 3,854 since the league began tracking them in 2007-08.
