Former Edmonton Oilers general manager Ken Holland's potential new NHL job has been leaked by insider Elliotte Friedman.

Ken Holland's exit from the Edmonton Oilers left questions about his next steps in the NHL. Known for his success with the Detroit Red Wings where he led the team to three Stanley Cups Holland took on the challenge in Edmonton hoping to build a championship roster around superstars Connor McDavid & Leon Draisaitl. However after five seasons with just one Conference Finals appearance the Oilers moved on.
After his departure, Holland was linked to a role with the Columbus Blue Jackets, but with Don Waddell taking on that position, his future remained unclear. Recently, however, NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman reported in his 32 Thoughts column that Holland may have another path forward-one that doesn't involve managing a specific team.
According to Friedman, the NHL's Hockey Operations reached out to Holland about a possible league role if he doesn't find a team opportunity that fits. The specific role remains unspecified, but it would allow him to bring his experience and hockey knowledge to the league in a broad capacity.
If he does not find something he likes with a team, NHL Hockey Operations has asked Ken Holland if he'd be interested in a role with the league.

Holland's legacy is built on his sharp decision-making and player development acumen. While his tenure with Edmonton didn't yield a Stanley Cup, his influence and expertise remain highly regarded. If he joins NHL Operations, Holland could contribute to league-wide hockey strategy and player development. For the veteran executive, a league position could be a fitting way to continue impacting the sport, extending his career from team management to a new role in shaping the game's future.
