Jonathan Toews shocks everyone with new social media post

Former Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews has shared a shocking life update.
After the 2022-23 NHL season, longtime Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews announced he was stepping away from hockey to focus on healing and enjoying life.
In an August 2023 Instagram post, Toews shared
«My focus is to give myself the time and space to fully heal and enjoy life to the fullest once again,» he posted on Instagram in August, 2023. «Along the way I have met several people who have struggled with health issues pertaining to long COVID, chronic immune response syndrome, and other similar cases that are quite complex. I now recognize the importance of one day sharing the details of my health journey with you all.»

Since then, there hasn't been much talk of Toews returning to the league for the 2024-25 season. In fact, his recent social media posts show him surfing on the West Coast and attending the Burning Man festiva activities that seem far from the NHL grind.
According to Todd Welter of BlackhawkUp.com, while Toews hasn't made an official retirement announcement, it's becoming more likely that he won't return to the NHL.
"Maybe an official announcement will never come," Welter says in his latest column. "He seems to be enjoying life away from the spotlight. He probably does have to officially file some sort of retirement paperwork for Hall of Fame eligibility. If it does, it might be a short press release rather than a major gathering and emotional speech."
At this point, it seems unlikely that Toews will resume his NHL career. He appears to be enjoying life away from the spotlight and the demands of an 82-game schedule.
