Montreal Canadiens journalist under fire for an unacceptable gesture at Johnny Gaudreau's funeral

Before the service started, several NHL players were seen arriving. Some entered with teammates or friends from the league, while others came with their families. Among the attendees were Patrik Laine, Mike Matheson, and Cole Caufield. As Caufield was walking in, a reporter repeatedly called his name, likely hoping to ask him a question. Caufield eventually glanced at the reporter and quietly waved him off before continuing toward the building.

Many were understandably upset, not because Caufield refused to respond, but because the reporter tried to get a sound bite during such a tragic event. It was a time for mourning, not for interviews.

During the service, Johnny Gaudreau's wife, Meredith, gave a heartfelt tribute to both Johnny and Matthew. She spoke about Johnny's close friends, including Kevin Hayes and Sean Monahan, who had come to Columbus to play with Johnny. The most emotional moment came when Meredith shared that she is expecting their third child, who will now never get to meet their father.

Fans took to social media to honor the Gaudreaus and also to raise awareness about the dangers of driving under the influence, as Johnny and Matthew were hit by a driver suspected of being intoxicated.
