Sidney Crosby and head coach Dan Muse could be opening the playoffs at home if this leaked Day 1 schedule holds up.

A rumor made the rounds Thursday night, laying out three Eastern Conference games for Saturday. Nothing is confirmed by the league yet, but the matchups raised eyebrows fast.
The slate starts with Flyers at Penguins at 12:30. Then Bruins at Sabres at 3:00. Senators at Hurricanes wraps it at 7:00.
If that holds, the Penguins get the early puck drop on home ice. That's a big call from Dan Muse, especially with a veteran core that usually prefers a later start.
Pittsburgh finished with 98 points, tied with Philadelphia but behind on tiebreaks. That alone adds tension to a potential Game 1 right out of the gate.
Rick Tocchet's Flyers won't ease into anything. They're coming in on a three-game win streak and a 23-14-4 road record.
The Bruins-Sabres matchup might be the real spark.

Lindy Ruff's Sabres topped the Atlantic with 109 points. They also scored 288 goals, one of the best offensive totals in the East.
Boston slides in as a wild card with 100 points. Marco Sturm's group is heavier, structured, and built for playoff hockey, not track meets.
That clash of styles is exactly why the league might want it in the afternoon window. It's clean, direct, and easy to sell.
Then there's the night game in Carolina.
Rod Brind'Amour's Hurricanes led the Metro with 113 points and a +56 differential. They've been one of the most consistent teams all season.
Travis Green's Senators barely got in with 99 points, but their 278 goals suggest they can push pace if given space.
That's where coaching decisions will show early. Carolina's forecheck against Ottawa's transition game could define the series within one period.
Still, it's all conditional. The league hasn't stamped anything official yet, and schedules can shift late.
But if this leak is close to reality, Saturday won't ease anyone in. It's straight into playoff intensity, right from the opening puck drop.
