Tage Thompson is playing out of his mind right now, and Buffalo Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff is reaping the rewards of his star center's absolute dominance.

The massive forward just extended his current point streak to a whopping 10 consecutive games.
He buried his 34th goal of the season tonight, continuing a torrid offensive pace that has the entire league taking notice. You can see the confidence radiating off his stick.
Finding consistency is the hardest thing to do in the NHL, especially when opposing matchups are specifically designed to shut you down.
But Thompson is making it look incredibly easy right now. He is completely dictating the pace of play every single shift.
Looking back at his recent history, this is exactly the player Buffalo envisioned when they acquired him from the St. Louis Blues way back in the day. The investment is paying massive dividends.
After a slight dip a few years ago, he rebounded with 44 goals last season. Now, he is threatening to shatter the 40-goal mark yet again.

A Nightmare Matchup for Defenses

Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 220 pounds, he possesses a rare blend of brute size and crisp passing ability.
Opposing defensemen simply cannot handle his reach. If they gap up, he stickhandles around them. If they back off, he fires a lethal wrist shot.
He entered tonight's action with 65 points in 62 games. That level of production is exactly what a true number one center provides.
Let us not forget he also just represented Team USA at the 2026 Men's Olympics in February, putting up three goals in six games on the highest possible international stage.
That experience against the best players in the world seems to have added even more fuel to his fire.
The Sabres need every single point they can muster down the stretch. The Eastern Conference playoff race is an absolute meat grinder.
When your top guy is riding a 10-game point streak, it changes the entire dynamic in the locker room. The confidence becomes contagious, trickling down to the third and fourth lines.
Over his NHL career, Thompson has proven he can carry an offense. Right now, he is putting the entire city of Buffalo on his back.
