Some surprising names have entered the waiver wire as NHL teams trim their lineups ahead of the regular season.

According to insider Elliotte Friedman, a total of 25 players have been placed on waivers. Everyone from yesterday's list cleared.
Today:
Harkins (ANA)
DiPietro, Lettieri, Oesterle (BOS)
Lockwood (FLA)
Ward (LA)
Dowling, Hardman, Laberge, Legare, Willman (NJ)
Lycksell, Richard (PHI)
Bemstrom, Clurman, Gruden, Koppanen, Kral, Ludvig, Poulin (PIT)
Tomkins (TB)
Steeves (TOR)
Bear, Philp, Sgarbossa (WASH)
With the Bruins recently claiming goalie Jiri Patera off waivers it's not too surprising that DiPietro is now on waivers. Last season, he played 30 games for the Providence Bruins, earning an 18-9-2 record, a .918 save percentage, and a 2.51 goals-against average.
Lettieri, who was acquired from the Minnesota Wild in the Jakub Lauko trade, played 46 games with Minnesota last season, recording five goals and nine points. He also added eight points in 10 games with the Iowa Wild.
Oesterle, signed by the Bruins this summer on a two-year, two-way contract, appeared in 22 games with the Calgary Flames last season, registering two assists and a minus-6 rating. He also contributed 19 points in 30 games with the Calgary Wranglers.
Stay tuned for more.
