The Chicago Blackhawks are still a rebuilding team. Despite the additions of Connor Bedard and Corey Perry, among others, the team is still at the bottom of the standings although their 4-7 record is better than many expected from them at this point in the season. Still though, the team will almost certainly be sellers at the deadline, with a couple of big names potentially leaving the windy city.

Blackhawks Set To Trade Perry

The Blackhawks made an interesting move this offseason when they signed veteran pest Corey Perry to a one-year 4 million dollar contract. The deal makes him very moveable, which was likely the plan for him when they signed the deal. Two teams that could be interested in his services are the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Maple Leafs and Lightning Compete For Perry's Services

For Toronto, adding Perry almost seems like a no-brainer. Not only has Perry been a constant thorn in The Leaf's side over the years, but he can also bring some of that character Brad Treliving was looking for when he brought in Tyler Bertuzzi and Max Domi. So far this year Perry has had a much better season than those two, while also showing the Leafs how to be mentally tough as he scored the game winner against them earlier this year.
For the Lightning, Perry would be an affordable way to bolster their depth that has been depleted in recent years due to salary cap constraints. Perry could bring a similar mindset to the Lightning's bottom six that previous cup winners like Barclay Goodrow did. Unlike Goodrow, he can bring a bit more of a scoring touch as well. Perry likely won't be the only Blackhawk to be traded this season though.

Rangers And Kings Look To Add Foligno

Another key Blackhawk that could soon find his way out of the windy city is Nick Foligno. Foligno, like Perry, signed a one-year 4 million dollar contract with the Hawks this season. Reportedly, two teams, the New York Rangers and the LA Kings are interested in his services.
So fat this season Foligno has played an elevated role for the Blackhawks. He would likely be playing in a bottom six role for either of these contenders though. While he may not bring as much offensive upside as Perry, he can still be a veteran presence who can play in all situations. Either team would want players like him on a long playoff run.
