Pagnotta confirms that the Capitals could be willing to part ways with Anthony Mantha, who is from Longueuil, just outside of Montreal. It's likely the 29-year-old would be more than willing to return home to play for the Canadiens.
The Capitals looking to part ways with Mantha is more of a sign that they are looking to create cap room than anything. Mantha carries a $5.7 million hit for this year and is a free agent after that. Armia, on the other hand, has two years left on a deal with a $3.4 million AAV.
The two players are of similar age and have similar point productions in their previous seasons. Mantha scored .4 points per game, while Armia recorded .3. Neither played a full season with their respective teams.
