Insiders Reveal The True Reason Gauthier Was Traded From the Flyers
The Cutter Gauthier trade caught everyone by surprise, which meant everyone speculated on why the Flyers would trade away one of their top prospects before he even made it to the NHL. Now, insiders Elliotte Friedman and Pierre LeBrun have revealed that Gauthier was traded for personal and family reasons.
«I reached out to Cutter Gauthier's agent, Kurt Overhardt, earlier on Tuesday and I asked him that very question and here's what he was ready to say. He said, quote:
‘It's a private issue between the player and his family. We definitely had conversations with Philadelphia, very respectable conversations with Philadelphia about it. We've chosen just to take the high road and leave all that information private.'
This is a break from the current narrative, and if it is because of personal reasons, no one on the Flyers side of things had mentioned that before.
Friedman Notes That The Issue Could Have Been Cap Related
Elliotte Friedman offered a different potential reason for the trade earlier this week, stating that there could have been a miscommunication over the signing bonuses in Gauthier's contract which could have caused a rift between the two camps.
Either way, now that the trade is done, Gauthier will get a new start on the West Coast, though he will likely have the date when the Ducks play the Flyers circled on the calendar.
