The Edmonton Oilers and Boston Bruins are two teams vying for not only making the playoffs but competing for the Stanley Cup. Many expected the Oilers to be at the top of the NHL standings and the Bruins to fall based on this off-season, and in a hilarious turn the opposite happened. The Bruins are again a top team and the Oilers sunk in the standings so far even a wild card position will be tough to grasp.
It is a deal that can work for both sides. The Oilers finally get a number one goaltender, though this would leave them with $12.6M in goaltending, and the Bruins get a top six centre that the team would love to have.
Linus Ullmark is again sharing the crease with Jeremy Swayman and the two are still playing huggingly fantastic for the Bruins. Defence and Goaltending is what has kept this team from really feeling the loss of both Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci. Although Ullmark's save percentage is not at the absurd high it was last year (0.938), it is still stellar at 0.918. He also has a 12-5-2 record and never makes any match up against the Bruins early.
