The upcoming National Hockey League trade deadline on March 3rd will see the Chicago Blackhawks positioned as sellersq. Since Jonathan Toews is not available this season, the focus has shifted to Patrick Kane, whose name has been mentioned in trade rumors for some time.
According to Larry Brooks of the New York Post, the New York Rangers are interested in acquiring the 34-year-old forward, provided he is willing to waive his no-move clause to move to New York. Despite acquiring Vladimir Tarasenko from St. Louis on February 10, the Rangers have not lost interest in Kane, according to sources.
Kane has been dealing with a hip issue this season, but he remains a productive player with 14 goals and 28 assists for 42 points in 53 games played for Chicago. While Kane was previously open to several teams, he now appears to be willing to accept a deal with only one team, significantly lowering his acquisition cost.
Although the Rangers were not expected to pursue Kane after acquiring Tarasenko, they now seem ready to do so if they can make the salary cap work. According to some the negotiations are already in the advanced stages.
