It appears Jakob Chychrun's time in Ottawa is nearing an end following recent reports about him not wanting to play for the Senators following the end of his contract.
Jakob Chychrun's Time In Ottawa Is Nearing An End
Defenseman Jakob Chychrun doesn't seem too excited about playing for his hometown Ottawa Senators anymore, leading General Manager Steve Staios to explore potential trade options, according to Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia.
Per the streets, It seems the 'hometown novelty' has mostly worn off for Jakob Chychrun and his camp in Ottawa. Hearing his interest in being a Sen long-term has diminished greatly.
Very unlikely that he extends, far more likely that he's dealt before becoming a UFA #GoSensGo

Sources indicate that Staios has been in discussions with interested teams, with the Edmonton Oilers being mentioned as a possible suitor looking to strengthen their defensive lineup.
Chychrun, traded to Ottawa less than a year ago on March 1, 2023, could find himself on the move again at this year's trade deadline. However, with one more year left on his contract and a 10-team no-trade list, he holds some influence over his potential destination. While he becomes eligible to sign an extension starting July 1, there are doubts about his long-term commitment to Ottawa.
GM Steve Staios is expected to meet with Chychrun's agent, Andy Scott of Octagon Hockey, to discuss the defenseman's future plans. Trade discussions may intensify as the March 8 deadline approaches.
The initial excitement surrounding Chychrun's return to Ottawa appears to be fading, and if the Senators and Chychrun are not aligned in their vision, trade talks may escalate. Chychrun's 10-team "no move" clause provides him some control over the situation, making him an attractive option for contending teams if he becomes available.
