Insider Elliotte Friedman has shared the details of a potential trade between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Vancouver Canucks involving forward Martin Necas.

The Canucks have shown interest in Necas for a while, and it seems a trade might be in the works. According to Friedman, the Hurricanes are asking for top prospects in return, and it appears that defenseman Filip Hronek won't be enough to make the deal happen.

Elliotte Friedman and the #Canucks trying to get Martin Necas: It is a harder deal to do with no Pettersson in deal like last time, The Canes will want top prospects, Hronek won't do it. It is a hard deal to do.

Dhaliwal: «What are you hearing on the Canucks and Necas?»

Friedman: «The ask is big, I don't think Hronek is going to get it done. I think they're going to need to attach some of their top prospects. The talks are not the same as they were around the deadline.»

The Canucks have a few top prospects, such as Jonatan Lekkerimaki and Tom Willander, who might be included in the trade for Necas.

Only time will tell if the Canucks and Hurricanes can finalize this deal, but the framework appears to be solid. More details will follow as the situation develops.
