Before the NHL trade deadline, it appeared likely that the Washington Capitals would trade forward Max Pacioretty as their playoff chances dimmed, giving the veteran a chance to pursue a Stanley Cup elsewhere. However, when the deadline passed, Pacioretty remained with the Caps, with questions swirling about why he wasn't traded.

Insider Reveals Why Pacioretty Nixed Trade Offers

According to Frank Seravalli, Pacioretty chose to stay in Washington, turning down offers from playoff-bound teams due to his no-move clause, as he wanted to be close to family and finish the season with the Capitals after recovering from Achilles tears.
Sounds like Pacioretty turned down multiple playoff-bound teams via his no-move clause, wanted to stay close to family and finish what he started this season in Washington coming off the Achilles tears. #allcaps were more than happy with that.
While it's admirable that he wanted to stay loyal to his teammates, considering his career may be nearing its end and after enduring two Achilles injuries in the past two years, competing for a Stanley Cup could have meant a lot more to him.
In 26 games this season, Pacioretty has scored three goals and assisted on twelve others.
