Marchand's First Outing as Team Captain Goes Viral
Brad Marchand has been named captain of the Boston Bruins a few days ago.
It's true that a captain must be ready to defend his teammates and get in there when things get heated. However, he must also lead by example to show how to do things in the NHL to the younger guys.
Unfortunately, he wasn't a very good example to follow during a particular moment of last night's game against the Philadelphia Flyers.
In a scene that's becoming viral, Marchand is seen giving a violent strike with his stick on Joel Farabee's back.
Marchand Gives Huge Stick Hit to Farabee in Violent Scene
As you can see, Marchand and Farabee were bickering for a while and it reached another level with Marchand's hit.
This is a truly disgusting play, even if it had been done in a regular season game. Let's see if the NHL decides to punish Marchand for what he did. If they go in that direction, Marchand could miss the first game as captain. Big consequences for something that could've easily been avoided in a pre-season game...
