Newly signed defenseman Nikita Zadorov reveals who his first choice was in free agency and it's not the Boston Bruins.

Nikita Zadorov, who finished the 2023-2024 season with the Vancouver Canucks after a trade from the Calgary Flames, recently revealed that his preference was to stay in Vancouver. However, Zadorov signed a 6-year, $30 million contract with the Boston Bruins instead.

While the Canucks offered a similar deal, they likely did not match the length of the Bruins' offer. This was a crucial factor in Zadorov's decision. The 6'6", 248-pound defenseman from Moscow, Russia, had to make a career-defining choice.
Despite his desire to stay on the Canadian west coast, Zadorov is now committed to Boston. His performance last season included 6 goals, 14 assists, and 125 penalty minutes in 75 games split between Calgary and Vancouver. During the Canucks' playoff run, he contributed 4 goals, 4 assists, and 26 penalty minutes in 13 games.
