We've seen gruesome injuries on the ice quite a lot in the sport of hockey, and recently, the Calgary Wranglers, the Flames AHL affiliate saw a horrific scene as one of their top prospects had to be rushed to hospital.
That was Jeremie Poirier, one of the Flames top prospects who was cut by a skate, but thankfully, it has now been revealed that he is okay and will make a full recovery, but will be out indefinitely.
The 21-year old from Quebec suffered a similar injury to Evander Kane from a year ago, and while the bloody scene was tough to watch, it's great to hear that the surgery could get him back on the ice sometime this season.
While often overlooked in the Flames prospect rankings by the likes of Dustin Wolf, Matt Coronato and Connor Zary, Poirier has been making a major name for himself this season.
In four games this year in the AHL, Poirier has notched 1 goal and 7 points, but unfortunately, this latest injury will keep him out for some time, but at 21-years old, the Flames still hold out plenty of hope for their young defenseman.
