The Calgary Flames have been in sell mode all season. This continued last night when the team traded defenseman Chris Tanev to the Dallas Stars. However, new reports today suggest the team will be holding onto one important player.
One player many assumed the Flames would be trading this year is goaltender Jacob Markstrom. However, NHL insider David Pagnotta just reported that the team now plans on holding onto him for the remainder of the season. Notably, Markstrom still has two years left on his contract after this one.
Markstrom has a 2.54 goals-against-average this season and a .914 save percentage, both very respectable numbers, especially given how poor the Flames have been this season. Be sure to stay tuned to see if the team changes their mind about the netminder.
