Gritty forward Nazem Kadri has spent the last two seasons with the Calgary Flames after turning his 2022 Stanley Cup win into a lucrative contract in Alberta.
However, the Flames are now in a rebuilding phase, especially after the blockbuster trade that sent Matthew Tkachuk to the Florida Panthers in exchange for Jonathan Huberdeau and MacKenzie Weegar. This trade has been one-sided, with Florida making two straight trips to the Stanley Cup Final and winning this spring.
In contrast, Huberdeau has struggled in his first two seasons with the Flames, and several notable players have left the team. Now, it appears Kadri could be the next to go.
According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, Kadri would "welcome" a move to a team he's previously played for or somewhere closer to his hometown of London, Ontario:
"My understanding with respect to (Kadri) is that he's willing to waive (the no-move clause) for the right situation. I think he would welcome a return to Colorado or farther East, somewhere closer to home."
Kadri started his career with the Toronto Maple Leafs before being traded to the Colorado Avalanche ahead of the 2019-20 season. He still has five years remaining on his contract with an AAV of $7 million.
