Last night, the Carolina Hurricanes made a move signing a player who was part of the Canadian World Junior team in 2018 to a new NHL contract.

Hurricanes Sign, Waive Player From 2018 WJC Team

The Carolina Hurricanes have reportedly inked forward Maxime Comtois to a one-year, two-way contract. The deal is worth $775K in the NHL and $250K in the AHL.

The #hurricanes have signed Max Comtois to a two-way contract for the remainder of the year that carries a $775,000 cap hit at the NHL level.

Comtois has 12 goals and 28 points in 45 games with AHL Chicago this year.

According to insider Renaud Lavoie, the Canes will be forced to place the player on waivers.

don't have a AHL team, so he'll still play in Chicago until he'll be called up.

As a former second-round pick, Comtois is expected to join the AHL and focus on reviving his career.
