The NHL is a constantly changing landscape of players and staff. Earlier today a player was shockingly placed on waivers by the Columbus Blue Jackets.
NHL Vet Unexpectedly On Waivers
This afternoon it was reported that Columbus Blue Jackets forward Eric Robinson was placed on waivers by the team.
Placed on NHL waivers today: Eric Robinson (CBJ).
Robinson will now have to wait 24 hours to find his NHL fate. He could be claimed by one of the 31 other NHL teams. Alternatively, he could make it through waivers unclaimed at which point he would likely be assigned to the Cleveland Monsters of the AHL.
At the other end of this process, a former top prospect learned his waiver fate today.
Former Oilers Top Prospect Learns His Fate
Yesterday former top defensive prospect for the Edmonton Oilers Markus Niemelainen was placed on waivers. Today he was able to confirm his next destination in his hockey journey.
Markus Niemelainen (EDM) clears waivers.
Niemelainen played 23 NHL games last season but could not do enough to stick around to begin the year. He will now look to show his worth with the Bakersfield Condors and earn a promotion back to Edmonton.
