Edmonton Oilers Finalizing A Deal For UFA Forward Corey Perry
According to insider David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, it sounds like the Edmonton Oilers are on the verge of signing gritty veteran forward Corey Perry.
Hearing a deal has been agreed to. I believe an announcement will be made later today.
The Edmonton Oilers have made a remarkable turnaround this season, climbing from the bottom of the league standings to now contending for a Western Conference Wild Card spot with a remarkable 13 game winning streak.
Perry recently received NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman's permission to rejoin the league, giving him the freedom to sign with any team. His contract with the Chicago Blackhawks was terminated earlier in the season due to an incident deemed detrimental to the organization and a violation of their code of conduct.
During his 16 games with the Blackhawks before the termination, Perry contributed four goals, five assists, totaling nine points with a minus-5 rating.
