The Edmonton Oilers will be without Evander Kane at the start of the season, and the veteran forward has now spoken for the first time since undergoing successful surgery.

This off-season was tough for Kane, as he tried to recover from his injuries through rest, but it wasn't enough. In a recent interview, he revealed that he ultimately needed major surgery.
That surgery has now been completed, and while Kane didn't provide a timeline for his return, he thanked the medical team that helped him and acknowledged the long road ahead.
Successful surgery, long road ahead but very greatful for my amazing surgeons and nurses.
One doctor from the University of British Columbia noted that Kane's injuries were almost unprecedented in the sports world when it comes to surgical repairs. The doctor predicted Kane would be out for a long time, with the possibility that he might not return at all this season.
Now that the surgery is done, we should learn more in the coming days and weeks about Kane's future. The Oilers may have some important decisions to make about their forward lineup in his absence.
Despite the challenging recovery ahead, Kane remains hopeful that he can return to help the Oilers in the 2024-25 season.
