Today, The Hockey News reported that Edmonton Oilers assistant coach Paul Coffey is under investigation by both the NHL and the Oilers organization for allegedly making an inappropriate gesture towards a Vancouver Canucks fan during the first game of their conference semi-finals series.

"The Hockey News has learned that both the Oilers organization and the NHL are investigating [Paul Coffey for an alleged (inappropriate) gesture to a fan's turban]," @TheHockeyNews is reporting.

The incident reportedly happened in Vancouver during game one of the series between the @EdmontonOilers and the @Canucks.

This wouldn't be the first time Coffey has faced allegations of r***(m. In 2014 he was suspended for using a "discriminatory (word)" against another minor hockey coach during a game.

This isn't the first time Coffey has faced such allegations. In 2014, he was suspended for three games by the Greater Toronto Hockey League for using a discriminatory term towards another minor hockey coach during a game.

Hey All. This wouldn't be the first time Paul Coffey used a slur or racist gesture.

I don't think he needs you to rush to defend his honour lol

Fans are wary given Coffey's past, suggesting that there might be substance to the current allegations. The Oilers will hope that this distraction doesn't affect their performance in the series against the Canucks.
