The NHL Player of Safety Department has taken action against Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane for his vicious slash on Dryden Hunt of the Calgary Flames.

Saturday night didn't end well for Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane. Not only was he publicly criticized by teammate Corey Perry on the Oilers bench, but now the NHL's Department of Player Safety has fined Kane $5,000 for a slash against Calgary Flames forward Dryden Hunt during the same game.
Edmonton's Evander Kane has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for slashing Calgary's Dryden Hunt.
Despite being penalized by on-ice officials, Kane's slash was deemed worthy of supplementary discipline by the Department of Player Safety. This marks Kane's second fine of the season, raising concerns about potential future disciplinary action, especially if it occurs during the upcoming Stanley Cup playoffs.
Do you think the fine by the NHL is fair?
