The Florida Panthers have announced unfortunate news regarding forward Carter Verhaeghe, who is now considered week-to-week due to an undisclosed injury. With only two weeks left in the regular season, Verhaeghe may not return until Game 1 of the first round of the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs.

With just seven games remaining, the Panthers will sorely miss Verhaeghe's presence as they aim to secure the top spot in the Atlantic Division and possibly the Eastern Conference. However, since the team has already clinched a playoff berth, Verhaeghe's value will be even greater during postseason play.

They don't expect him to miss any playoff games, but he might not be ready until Game 1.
Verhaeghe quickly established himself as a consistent offensive threat for the Panthers upon joining the team, a trend that continued this season. It's likely that his last regular-season game, up to this point, will see him finish with 33 goals and 71 points in total.
A key player in Florida's run to the Stanley Cup Final last year, Verhaeghe has been a top performer for the Panthers over the past three seasons. Since the start of the 2020-21 Stanley Cup playoffs, he has played 37 postseason games for Florida, scoring 15 goals and tallying 32 points.
Regardless of the severity of his injury, the Panthers are hopeful that two weeks of rest will resolve any issues for Verhaeghe, allowing him to be ready for Game 1. In the meantime, the team's depth, bolstered by moves made at this year's trade deadline, should help carry them through.
