The NHL's style of play has changed drastically in recent years, and while it may be more exciting for fans, it certainly limits the opportunities for tough, hard-nosed defenseman like we've seen in the past.
A physical veteran
After over a decade in the NHL, Jordie Benn, who last played in Toronto a season ago has now been faced with this harsh reality, and now, he's taken an interesting approach to staying on the ice.
The 36-year old brother of Jamie has now inked an intriguing new deal with Brynäs IF in the Swedish Hockey League as he looks to continue his solid hockey career.
In 607 career games, Benn managed to net 26 goals and ended with 137 points, and now, he'll take his play to Sweden in order to continue his career and potentially ignite a return to the NHL. Either way, we wish the veteran defenseman good luck.
