Ovechkin Makes HUGE Open-Ice Hit On Erik Karlsson

As the Capitals trailed the Penguins 2-0 halfway through the game in their season opener, Alex Ovechkin attempted to give his team some energy by laying a massive hit on Erik Karlsson.

Both players skated away from the contact just fine so while it may have been an unpleasant experience for Karlsson, it did not seem to impact his ability to play hockey. He is still learning how he fits in with the Penguins after being traded there over the summer but he did manage to record his first point with the team in this game.
