Calgary Flames GM Craig Conroy has reportedly made a significant trade offer for Montreal Canadiens defenseman Arber Xhekaj.
Arber Xhekaj has one of the most inspiring stories in the NHL, having been signed by the Canadiens after going undrafted three times. The defenseman has become a crucial piece for the Canadiens, and GM Kent Hughes has stated he has no intention of trading the Ontario native despite the considerable interest.
The Calgary Flames reportedly made a significant offer for Xhekaj, but the Canadiens decided against trading him to the Flames.
The Flames seem like a great fit for Xhekaj, given their old-school style of play and constant need for more size on their defense. However, the Canadiens are firm in their decision to keep Xhekaj and would need a substantial offer to consider moving him.

Barring an overwhelming offer from another team, the Canadiens plan to keep Xhekaj, hoping he will become a key part of their defense when they eventually aim for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
