As the current season nears its end, the anticipation surrounding this year's waiver wire is gradually dwindling. Nonetheless, it has been an intriguing year for the waiver wire, with a number of high-profile names making their way onto it. These include former NHL stars such as Nick Foligno and Wayne Simmonds, as well as several first-round picks, including Tyson Jost, who was even selected in the top 10.

Perhaps the most notable player to hit the waiver wire this year was Alex Galchenyuk. Drafted third overall in 2012 and now part of the Colorado organization, Galchenyuk's availability on the waiver wire was certainly a surprise.

The latest addition to the waiver wire is a player recently acquired by the Nashville Predators in a trade last summer. While it remains to be seen whether any teams will take a chance on this player, it is clear that the waiver wire has been an important factor in shaping this year's NHL landscape.
