Jacob Trouba has a well-earned reputation as one of the most dangerous players in the NHL to play against. He is unafraid of laying huge hits even against players in compromised positions. While the vast majority of his hits are clean, there are many well-known examples of him crossing the line. At least, that is the opinion of many fans. The NHL's department of player safety typically does not agree as he has been suspended just one time in his NHL career.
In tonight's preseason game against the Devils, Trouba was in mid-season form as he plastered Devils forward Tyler Toffoli into the boards. Toffoli's back was to Trouba and he was facing the boards, attempting to gather the puck. It could have been a boarding penalty but in typical NHL fashion, no penalty was called on the play.
