The New York Rangers have added some depth to their roster signing former Red Wings, Oilers, Lightning forward Adam Erne to a professional tryout offer (PTO).

Erne, 29, is among several free agent players without a contract for the 2024-25 season. With this PTO, he's one step closer to securing a spot. He'll now aim to impress the Rangers at training camp and earn a contract for the upcoming season.
Drafted 33rd overall by the Lightning in 2013, Erne played 114 games over three seasons, scoring 13 goals and 27 points with 267 hits. His best season came in 2018-19 when he tallied seven goals and 20 points in 65 games. After that, he was traded to the Detroit Red Wings during the 2019 offseason.
Last season, Erne had a quiet year offensively with the Edmonton Oilers, recording just one goal and two points in 24 games. He also played 36 AHL games with the Bakersfield Condors, scoring six goals and 12 points.
