San Jose Sharks win sweepstakes for top NCAA free agent Collin Graf

The San Jose Sharks have announced the signing of top college free agent Collin Graf to an entry-level contract on Thursday afternoon.

Graf, aged 21, enters the NHL as a NCAA free agent, having never been drafted. Nonetheless, he made a significant impact at Quinnipiac University, tallying 108 points in 75 games over the past two seasons.

The Sharks issued a statement praising Graf's achievements, highlighting his recognition as a Hobey Baker Top-10 finalist for consecutive seasons. Described as possessing exceptional on-ice awareness and a well-rounded game, Graf is anticipated to contribute significantly, particularly in the offensive zone. The organization expressed excitement about his addition.
"Graf has excelled at the collegiate level, finishing as a Hobey Baker Top-10 finalist for the last two seasons. His on-ice awareness allows him to process the game at a high level, and is a unique player with a quality 200-foot game who excells in the offensive zone. We are excited to have him join the organization."
Graf garnered interest from various NHL teams over the past year, participating in development camps with the Predators last summer and the Panthers the year before.
As for whether he'll score a goal in the NHL this season, only time will tell.
