Tampa Bay Lightning star forward Nikita Kucherov's fate has been determined after his dangerous hit on Montreal Canadiens defenseman Kaiden Guhle during last night's game.
The NHL's current points leader not only contributed three points in a significant 7-4 win against the Habs but also caused Guhle to leave the game early due to the hit.

Although video footage shows that Kucherov did not make contact with Guhle's head, leading to him not being ejected, sports analyst Eric Engles questioned why the referees didn't penalize Kucherov for boarding.
"I mean, it's not like Guhle turned at the last second there. He was facing the glass the whole way. In fact, it's when he was turning to get back to sideways that Kucherov turned him back towards the glass and finished his hit. That's boarding..."
Engles later confirmed that he does not anticipate any further consequences for Kucherov.
"Not expecting any supplementary discipline for Nikita Kucherov."
The incident was a blow for Montreal, as Guhle plays a crucial role on their back end against top opponents. With the loss, the Montreal Canadiens are now eliminated from playoff contention.
We'll provide more updates as they become available. Stay tuned.
