William Nylander is perhaps the biggest name pending unrestricted free agent at the end of this season. It seems though that the Leafs are going to re-sign him before he hits the market. Now new details about his contract negotiations have leaked and they are juicy.

Nylander To Get Eight-Year Contract Worth 90 Million Dollars From Leafs

According to NHL insider Nick Kypreos the team and Nylander are on the verge of finalizing a contract extension before next month's all-star break. He even went so far as to leak some very important details about the contract. According to Kyper, Nylander is going to get an eight-year deal worth about 11.25 million dollars a season.

This report has been backed up by other reports that have hit social media today. Nick Barden of The Hockey News is also reporting 11.25 million dollars a season as Nylander's most likely annual value.

"$11.25 million is the one that is probably mentioned the most. Times eight."

William Nylander and the #Leafs are reportedly "trending" toward a contract extension, which they'd "like" to get done before NHL All-Star Weekend. ⤵️

Nylander To Get The Bag After Career Season

Whether or not Nylander is truly worth this massive deal remains to be seen. However, it cannot be argued just how good he has been this season. It has been perfect timing for the Swedish superstar to have a career year, his first true season where he is being talked about as one of the best players in the league.

Nylander currently leads the Leafs in scoring with 48 points in 34 games played, including 17 goals. Only Auston Matthews has more goals on the team with a whopping 29 in just 33 games. Nylander has already had multiple 10 game plus point streaks this season, showcasing his consistently high level of offensive play.

While many fans will continue to criticize Nylander for his effort at times, especially defensively, players with his level of talent are incredible difficult to get. A such it makes sense why the Leafs would do everything in their power to re-sign him even if it means giving him all the bags. Hopefully the deal works out though as the team has still failed to find post season success with their current core.
