The Leafs have gotten off to a lackluster start as they currently sit 6th in the Metro with a 2-2 record despite facing relatively easy competition in Chicago and Montreal. Part of the reason for that slow start is one of the team's offseason acquisitions, Max Domi.
Through four games, Domi has just one assist, 5 shots on goal, and a plus/minus of -3. He is averaging just under 13 minutes of ice time a game with a little but of time coming on the powerplay.
The Leafs are counting on Domi to provide some much needed scoring. The team has had no problems finding the back of the net so far this season, but they can't rely on Auston Matthews scoring hat tricks in half their games. Of the 15 goals the team has scored this season, Auston Matthews and William Nylander alone account for 9 of them. Domi was brought in to add a little toughness, but also to add some offensive flare to the bottom six. The team could be in a tough position soon if he does not improve his play.
