The Toronto Maple Leafs starting goaltender Ilya Samsonov leaves the game against the Edmonton Oilers after suffering a gruesome injury.

The Maple Leafs were winning 5-2 against the Edmonton Oilers when goalie Ilya Samsonov got hurt after letting in a goal.

Ilya Samsonov appeared to suffer a lower-body injury stretching to attempt to make a save, and has left the game

He had to leave the game, and Martin Jones replaced him with the score at 5-3 and about 3:39 left to play.

According to TSN reporter Chris Johnston, Samsonov suffered an injury, adding to the Maple Leafs list of injured players, which already includes Mitch Marner and Ilya Lyubushkin.

With the playoffs approaching, the Maple Leafs need everyone healthy, especially their goalies. Hopefully, Samsonov's injury isn't too serious.

We'll provide updates as more information becomes available.
